A new state park for Palo Pinto County, Texas

A new state park for Palo Pinto County, Texas

Seems as though the state has an unfair advantage over small Mom and Pop RV parks and recreational facilities, so is the role of state government to compete with private sector parks? Should valuable ranch land be taken away from productive ranchers? Private sector owners are good stewards of the land where sometimes the state hasn't been, so don't we have enough parks? Or, are we collectively doing the right thing by opening these wildlife areas to the public? Should we believe the state will preserve this land where private owners can or won't take care of it? What do you think? The Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce was invited to tour the new state park site in Strawn, Texas and here are some their pictures:

Gaddafi And The Graford Cowboy

GADDAFI AND THE GRAFORD COWBOY

Graford, Texas circa 1930's produced some of the finest cowboys on horseback. Among them was a particularly good cowboy with exacting aim when Bobby Erwin twirled a loop and lassoed a terrorist we all know as Maummar Gaddafi
For a short enjoyable read, learn the backwoods of north Texas' Palo Pinto County and Bobby Erwin's younger years the way my father told his story to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Click on the book cover to read my short story in the May issue of North Texas Star, (there's no charge) and after you've finished, come back here to blog your thoughts or just write a comment - I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks!
